Spring within a can

Dear Martha,

Here in Sweden it’s still depressingly dark and cold. To get a little glimpse of the coming spring (if it’s coming, I’m starting to doubt), I made a flower arrangement this weekend. I really love the unusual tulips!

This is how you make the arrangement:
1. Wash a used can and let it dry.
2. Cut an oasis (which you can buy at the flower store) so it’ll fit in the can, and put it in a bowl of water so it’ll get wet. It has to sink of it’s own – if you press the oasis down in the bowl you’ll cause air bubbles. Put the wet oasis in the can.
3. Choose some flowers that you like, preferably at least two to three, and some leaves. You’ll get the best result it they’re not all the same heights. Cut the stems to the length you want and stick them one by one into the oasis. Start from the sides and stick them in to the middle.
When you’re satisfied with the arrangement, fill the can with water.
The arrangement will last for about a week.

Love, Josefin
